How to Become a Safety Leader Instead of a Safety Doer

There is a common misconception in management teams that it is the Safety Manager's job to "do safety."  In today's episode, I give you steps to take to make the transition from Safety Doer to Safety Leader.  The truth is, safety policies and procedures are most effective when the supervisors are the ones actually implementing, training, and enforcing.

The four steps I outline:

  1. Create positive relationships with the management team.
  2. Have a clear understanding of accountability.
  3. Create processes that involve everybody.
  4. Include management from the beginning.
